Barbados uses the Barbadian dollar. USD is fixed at 2 BBD = 1 USD and accepted almost everywhere.

Local know-how
A few things that make your trip easier.
English is the official language — you'll be understood everywhere. Bajan dialect is warm and quick.
Left-hand side. A Barbados visitor's permit is required (rental companies arrange it).
10% is common in restaurants when service isn't included. Taxi drivers appreciate rounding up.
The UV index is high year-round — reef-safe sunscreen, hat and water are non-negotiable.
BBD and USD are both accepted. Cards work in most places; carry small bills for rum shops and markets.
Barbados is friendly and safe overall — normal precautions apply after dark and on isolated beaches.
Route taxis (ZR vans) are cheap and fun; buses are BB$3.50 flat fare. Uber isn't operating — use a local taxi.
Tap water is safe to drink island-wide.
