Joes River Bridge

Spanning a distance of 70 feet over one of the island's rare above-ground waterways, the Joes River Bridge is a captivating piece of living history. Rebuilt and reopened as a timber pedestrian footbridge, it stands directly on the original 19th-century stone foundations of the historic Barbados Railway, which operated from 1883 until 1937. The bridge serves as a critical coastal link connecting the seaside villages of Bathsheba and Cattlewash, saving residents and hikers from navigating steep highway hills or rugged beach boulders.
