Needhams Point Light House

Overview

Built in 1855, the Needhams Point Lighthouse is a striking octagonal masonry tower standing as the second-oldest lighthouse on the island. Situated at the southern tip of Carlisle Bay, it historically played a critical role guiding merchant vessels and military ships safely into the harbor using a unique stationary beacon rather than a rotating light. Today, the structure is beautifully preserved and seamlessly integrated into the grounds of the Hilton Barbados Resort, sitting adjacent to the 18th-century ruins of Charles Fort. Surrounded by white-sand beaches and a crucial nesting habitat for Hawksbill turtles, it offers an incredible architectural focal point where maritime history meets stunning Caribbean seascape views.
