Overview
The Lion at Gun Hill is a coral-limestone sculpture on the hillside below Gun Hill Signal Station in Saint George. Carved in 1868 by Captain Henry Wilkinson and four military labourers, it depicts a lion with one paw resting on a red sphere. The work reflects the symbolism of British imperial power at the time. A short inclined path leads to the sculpture, where the surrounding hillside also offers views over the island.
